Multrees Investor Services eyes further growth with new Edinburgh operations centre

21 October 2019

Multrees Investor Services is getting set for its move to a newly refurbished, larger-scale, Edinburgh operations centre after taking up a new tenancy in the heart of the city at 40 Princes Street.

Multrees provides a range of outsourced platform services and technology for investment firms, including financial advisers, wealth managers, private banks and family offices. The business, which currently has over £11 billion assets under administration, was established in 2010 and has grown to over 80 employees.

The new Edinburgh office location, which has capacity for future expansion, reflects chief executive Chris Fisher’s growth ambitions for the business:

“Our new central Edinburgh office is not only great news for the Multrees team and clients, it also reflects our confidence that we can continue to grow our profits by winning new client relationships, building our assets under administration, and expanding our own team in both our Edinburgh and London locations over the coming years.

Glenn Murphy, UK Chief Operating Officer for family office Stonehage Fleming, a client of Multrees, commented:

“It's great to see Multrees go from strength to strength with the opening of their new office space and we're excited about the prospects that the future investment in their business will bring for clients like us.”

Apprentices: vital to filling Scotland’s skills gap in financial services

Another important part of Multrees’ long-term growth plan is to help fill the skills shortage in Scotland’s financial services market. Domain experts from across the business are putting this into action by supporting the firm’s apprentices through the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, as Chris explains:

“Our apprenticeship programme was born out of the awareness that certain skill sets, such as data management and operational analysis, are not readily available in the Scottish financial services market. Our team have long-standing experience and are real experts in their fields, so they can share this with our apprentices. We have made a commitment to employ more apprentices than ever before and, instead of just looking to meet a resource requirement, we are focused on helping our apprentices progress through the organisation to become future leaders.

“Apprenticeships can secure a pipeline of talent for both our business and the industry as a whole, and so far it has been a great investment, with 75% of our previous apprenticeships still with Multrees four years after our initial programme.”

Following a full refurbishment of the office space, Multrees will move its staff to the new Princes Street location in early November.
