International Woman's Day

Multrees Investor Services (Multrees) supports International Woman’s Day 2023, by backing this year’s campaign of #EmbraceEquity, we asked as many of members of staff to strike the IWD pose with their arms embracing themselves to show commitment to calling out bias, smashing stereotypes, breaking inequality, and rejecting discrimination.

We strongly believe that empowering the Women of Multrees is so valuable to what we aim to achieve as a business and for our clients. That’s why we would ask for you to share this post as much as possible and get involved in the #EmbraceEquity campaign too!

Two of our colleagues at Multrees Rachel Robertson & Lauren Kinnaird spoke about what IWD means to Multrees as a business as well as to them personally.

Rachel Robertson Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Multrees said ‘ Multrees tags its Diversity, Inclusion and ESG group as “Change for the Better” – in all things while we want to change the world, we know the reality is small impactful activity which at least will produce some Change for the Better. We see IWD as an opportunity to celebrate, reflect and act although the order and magnitude of these options may vary.

For 2023, IWD organisation’s theme of Embrace Equity and the UN theme DigitALL, which encourages innovation and tech for equality, it should be made very clear that equity and equality for women isn’t a single day issue.

That said, 8 March is absolutely a time to step out the day to day and celebrate our women, endeavour to create and improve their journeys and target achievable change. In reality, for smaller organisations, this might simply mean starting conversations. We’ve done this through panel events, reflective moments, sharing long-reads and recommending podcasts (Shout out to the Guilty Feminist). But further, we look to take forward that activity back into our day to day.  We can use the lessons learned to apply to hiring, to how our culture crystallises for our People and asking questions of everything we do to reflect on bias, opportunity, and encouragement.’

Lauren Kinnaird, Multrees People Advisor describes what International Women’s Day means to her ‘For me, International Women’s Day is a special day that we can celebrate the great success and achievements women all around the world have made. By reflecting on the women who have been influential and continuously stand up to make positive change for women’s rights and equality, it brings hope that each year on International Women’s Day there will be more accomplishments we have achieved to celebrate. I hope it’s a day that inspires other young women to actively support one another and understand our responsibility in the present to empower those changes.’
